Prostenklinken
A gentle begining...

A quiet form of the regular (and rowdy) Prost, the Prostenklinken evolved as a salutation between two or three CSMAU members at the start of a 'casual night out'. The motion is the same as for a regular Prost but is gentle, quiet and - strangely enough - barely noticeable to those around. The call is generally made sotto voce and the 2/3 people involved 'klink' their glasses together (as opposed to the more familiar 'crash') in a very refined manner. The 'Down' action is quiet and the "Hoi!" is discrete and mannerly.

Among conneiusseurs the 'Klinken' is a delicate affair that offers a communal 'calm before the storm'. It's generally called between 2 or maybe 3 of the early arrivers, anything more than that and it turns into a Prost-regular... though maybe without the high volume call at the start.

Not to be taken lightly the Prostenklinken is not a Prost for an entire night - it is merely the precursor of what is to come. It is also a nice way to introduce your new bird/fella (though primarily bird) to the 'niceties' of the Prost, letting her (ok, or him) get used to the concept and the actions of the Prost before the main event gets going later on.
